Born in what was the British Protectorate of Aden in South Yemen in 1955. The love of painting, drawing and the beauty of the written word has dominated my life. My professional career began in corporate design leading to exhibition and interior design, culminating in my own design practice in the early eighties. The spiritual aspect of humanity is  a strong influence in my life, and as a result I entered the Benedictine monastery of Quarr Abbey for several years, where I was introduced to bookbinding and the restoration of books. Since leaving monasticism I have continued to develop fine painting, calligraphy and bookbinding.

The love of blending colour and texture in painting, the use of line in drawing, the beauty of the written word in calligraphy and the three dimensional aspect of bookbinding, bring together elements that compliment each other well.
